MPR Designs being proud owner is something we understand. The pride that come with a dream purchase deserves the detailed oriented design to represent what someone has worked so hard for. The client came to me looking for a designed logo that would bring his concept to life. As well as wanted to have an illustration of the actual boat to have printed on t shirts.
DESIGN PROCESS
After our consultation, the client revived that he was very clear with the initial direction that he wanted to take. He had named his boat “Different Direction” as his life has led him to a new journey. He wanted the colors to consist of different hues of blue but also would look fitting in black and white. So, we took the first step of trying a ton of different style and feels.
Design Mapping

After our first chance to throw some color at our canvas. Our client started to see the design coming together. He pointed out that he like the interlocking D’s featured in the middle of the compass. He wanted to see the D’s in the compass of the outline, bottom left that I have highlighted with an arrow. He also left the request of adding a sea turtle and a marlin to incorporate the marine wildlife.
Revision One

I provided my first revision within a few days of our second meeting. Once it was sent back over to the client then quickly confirmed that the logo highlighted with the arrow was what they felt that represented him and the boat the best. Now the second part of this design request was to make an illustration in the for of an outline of the boat that the client could use to have printed on high quality t-shirts.

Outline Created by MPR Designs

Continued, We got a bigger boat.
A few months late I was contacted by the client to have another outline of the boat created. During the design process we talked about elements of the logo. The client and I agree to produce a less busy version of the logo that did not include the marine life.

Outline Created by MPR Designs

After we had finished up with the boat outline and logo the client had given me a challenge of a creative element that he thought would be a great accent to the boat. As well as being a master navigator in the sea, the client is also a pilot, so he wanted to see a prop plane propellor that was recognizable but subtle. Here he wanted to display the marine life that was discarded from the logo, and he wanted to hide a hidden mickey for his son. With the client walking me through great description photos even before we hung up the phone; I already had so many great ideas.
Creative Piece: Prop Plane Propeller

Once we got a chance to look at how well the prop plane propeller came out on a live design session, he had mention that he has interested in printing it on the apparel down the sleeve. We had some additional time that was un-use so we capitalized on the chance to pump out some t shirt rendering. This is so that the client could see a visual of the design before a large screen-printing purchase.

We provided the client with all high-quality images for print and artwork that bring joy to this client with a lot of sentimental value in these pieces. We look forward to working on more project with this Client and his brand Different Directions in the future!
